Ministry

Our minister Rev Jim Patterson trained first as an engineer and worked in the UK before moving to Africa to work with a missionary organisation. He returned to Scotland to study divinity and enter the ministry before returning to Africa for further missionary service. On his second return from Africa he became minister of Denburn Parish Church in Aberdeen before his move to Bristo.

Our deaconess Nan Rennie has served the people of Craigmillar for 26 years and has wide experience of the life of the community. She assists with pastoral duties in the parish and plays a useful role on local community councils. Nan is also Chair of the Bristo Guild.

Our Community Development Manager Linda Wright has the task of establishing more effective links with families and individuals in the community. She has qualifications in nursing and health visiting and has served in the medical mission field in Africa. Linda provides a confidential support system for several families with particular needs and also provides guidance and specialist help for our volunteer team. She also acts as Bristo’s Child Protection Officer.
Bristo aims to operate on the principle of “all member ministry” and to involve actively as many members as possible.
